For this project we had to make a collage using an Andy Warhol "Threshold" technique. For my picture I chose to do a person in blocks on the track. After turning the image black and white, I used threshold on each of the four pictures and gave them different threshold amounts. I then gave them different colors on the white parts of the threshold.

Social Injustice 6 Images Project
For this project, we had to choose some kind of social injustice and represent it through a series of 6 images that are also able to stand alone as their own image. I did this project with a partner and we chose the injustice of the difference between the rich and the poor. I did 3 images of the project and my partner (hopefully) also did three images. For my first image, I did a contrast between a rich and poor person. The rich person is throwing trash away in a trashcan and a poor person is picking trash up out of the trashcan. For my second and third images, I did a text effect. For the first I did the word "RICH." Inside the text and for the background I did an image of a bunch of money. For the second image I did the word "POOR" with pennies in the text and a plain black background. I didn't really love this project so much. I don't know why but I just wasn't able to come up with very creative ideas for it and I guess just not really really inspired by it.

Hotel Rwanda Text Project
For this project, we had to choose a word that illustrates something from the movie. We chose the word "INJUSTICE" and used an image from the movie to fill in the word.
Hotel Rwanda Movie Poster
For this project, we had to make a movie poster for the movie "Hotel Rwanda," which we watched in class. We decided to do an image from the movie in a rear view mirror of a car. It turned out pretty well and looks pretty neat.

Batesville Day Shirt Idea
For this project we had to come up with an idea for the shirt for the Batesville Day. John and I worked together on this project and we decided to go with an idea of some people jumping on a hill. We then decided to incorporate the parade/music aspect of it into the shirt by adding some people with instruments down at the bottom. There are two trumpet players on opposite sides both facing the middle and in between them are the words "37th Annual Batesville Day" and then below this is the date. On either side of the trumpet players there is another person with an instrument. On the right side is a guitar player and the left side has a person with a drum. In the background there is a big sun.

Photomontage Project
For this project we had to use a bunch of little pictures put together to make one larger picture. I decided to use a bunch of pictures of people running put together to make the outline of a runner. I used almost 50 layers in this project and it actually took a pretty long time. I thought that it turned out alright but this probably wasn't one of my favorite projects.

Hands Collage
For this project we had to make a collage out of hands. I used somewhere around 36 different hands so it took quite a while to cut all of those out. After I cut all of the hands out, I arranged them in different ways on the layout and then after that, I did a color overlay to each hand. I think that it turned out pretty cool looking and although it was actually a lot of work, I liked the project.

Wood Text Effect
For this project we had to do a tutorial from Photoshopuser.com. I did a tutorial on how to give text the look that it was carved out of wood. You have to use 2 different pictures of wood but it wasn't too hard to do.

Virginia Festival of Fine Arts Poster
For this project, we had to make a poster for the Fine Arts Festival. There was certain information that we needed to include on the poster as well as the picture that was selected for this year. We worked in partners to complete this project, my partner being the infamous John Wilder. It was a pretty easy and fun project to do. Here is what we came up with for our poster:

250 Years of Charlottesville
This was for our midterm project and it was to represent Charlottesville. For my project, I started out by doing a clipping mask of the rotunda in the words 'CVILLE' and a picture of the blue ridge mountains behind it. I then decided to try and put an effect on the background and I did a mosaic tile pattern. I them tried to make the letters a little different and I ended up putting a different picture in each letter. It was actually a pretty fun project. Here is all three of the versions I did.

Designs on Paper--Photo Card
In the spirit of the holiday season, this project was to create a photo card. Instead of going mainstream and creating a Christmas or Holiday card or New Year's Card, I went with making a card for a less well known holiday. This holiday is called Appreciate a Dragon day and occurs on January 16. I made a card for my friend, John Wilder. I got some pictures of dragons and wrote a little note on the card. It was a pretty fun project just because it was so obscure of a holiday!

NOH8 Campaign Poster
For this project, we worked in partners to make a NOH8 Poster for the GSA Campaign at our school. My partner, John Wilder, and I, made a poster featuring a girl named Mackenzie. We put her picture in the top right corner and then made a border around the other three sides. We then put the campaign info on the bottom and a quote on the right side. I think that it turned out well and it was actually a pretty fun project to do.
